The name “137 Pillars House” is derived from its original structure, which was built in the late 1800s as part of the British Borneo Company’s headquarters, a base for some of first foreigners in Chiang Mai who were here during the 1800\u2019s to source teak wood for shipbuilding.<\/p>\n
The house was constructed on stilts, with 137 teak wood pillars supporting the main building.<\/p>\n
Today, the hotel preserves the colonial charm of the original structure, including many of the original teak furnishings while offering modern amenities and luxurious accommodation.<\/p>\n
